APS has an advanced Mini-fab that most universities and research institutions would dream to have.  Advanced systems, and unique capability in materials, lithography, and electronics are just the tip of the iceberg.  We strive to build the ultimate research sand box to explore innovative technologies.

Process Engineer / Materials Engineer / Scientist

• Overview of Responsibilities:
  • [Primary] Development and characterization of semiconductor processes on equipment in the factory applications lab.
  • Development of processes related to semiconductor process equipment in the advanced logic and memory applications space.
    • Pattern Generator (e-beam / DWL), Plasma Etch, ALD, and Sputter.
  • Process development, and process design including test matrix design.
  • Design and execute process optimization experiments.
  • Characterize, compile, and analyze test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications;
  • Work with subcontractor/suppliers to prepare design specifications and modifications;
  • Work with remote engineering leaders and communicate effectively results of complex experiments;
  • Monitor and report on project progress;
  • Oversee all aspects of the custom memory materials processes and design, advanced materials deposition and processing. Experimentation design and execution, as well as reporting of results; 
  • Additional tasks include processing of polycarbonate substrates, and related materials processing thereof;
  • Contribute to written reports and presentations;
  • Support proposal and grant writing.

 

• Qualifications:
  • Minimum BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics related studies;
  • Solid working knowledge in semiconductor processes, development and characterization; materials characterization.
  • Familiar with analysis methods and instruments. (SEM, Microscope, etc.)
  • Experience in the design and development of memory.
  • Experience in preparation of successful R&D proposals and grants.

Electronics Technician / Engineer

• Overview of Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the process engineer in charge of development and characterization of process on equipment in the factory applications lab;
  • Support fabrication and testing of a novel memory device and general controls and instrumentation;
  • Support systems and PCB circuit design of typical controls and integration electronics platforms;
  • Support installation and configuration of laboratory-based systems;
  • Support creation of device prototypes using complicated drawings and specifications, advanced mathematics, and a variety of precision measuring instruments;
  • Perform design and development of electronic assemblies and circuit boards for custom test equipment, research systems, and apparatus;
  • Contribute to written reports and presentations.

 

• Qualifications:
  • Minimum technical degree in electronics (BS preferred)
  • Design experience in circuit design and printed circuit board layout including Or-CAD or other CAE design layout software required;
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, maintenance manuals and engineering sketches;
  • Prefer 2+ years of experience working as equipment metrology/installation/calibration technician;
  • Hands on electronics fabrication to including soldering and wiring (prefer J-STD certified);
  • General ability to safely and proficiently use hand and power tools;
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Pic32, Ras-Pi and as well as programing capabilities in python; 
  • Past experience with test stations, and metrology systems (microscope / SEM) or semiconductor industry a plus but not essential.
    

ASIC / Memory Design / Test Engineer

• Overview of Responsibilities:
  • Serve as technical lead for responsible for the prioritization of ASIC / Memory production activities and R&D projects;
  • Provide significant contribution in projects that involve ASIC design, test planning, and characterization;
  • Responsible for design of the test platforms and related systems to include operation of a wafer-based probe system; 
  • Work with remote engineering leaders and communicate effectively results of complex experiments;
  • Provide technical project management support to include monitoring and reporting on project progress;
  • Contribute to written reports and presentations;
  • Support proposal and grant writing.

 

• Qualifications:
  • Minimum BS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with experience in computer memory design;
  • 4+ years of experience in the ASIC design process with specific experience in memory cell design and experimentation;
  • Proficient with Electronics Scopes and test instruments. Microscope, Calipers, Micrometers, Height/Force gage;
  • Proficient in writing requirements, specifications, design, test plans & procedures, and user documentation;
  • Experience in post processing, packaging and integration into custom test circuit boards a plus.
